Kristin A. Sargent, MD

Dr. Kristin Sargent is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract surgery and the restoration of visual function through intraocular lens implants. Born in Houston, she is a graduate of Stanford University and received her medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Dr. Sargent completed her internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston and her residency at UT Southwestern before joining Texan Eye in 2004. Prior to her recruitment, she served as an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern for five years.

Dr. Sargent utilizes advanced multifocal lens designs — including ReSTOR® and Tecnis® — to correct both distance and near vision, and combines these with the AcrySOF® Toric lens implant to address astigmatism when present. She also performs surgery to correct disorders of the anterior surface of the eye, including pterygium removal, and performs upper eyelid blepharoplasty to improve both cosmetic appearance and visual function.
Dr. Sargent welcomes adults and children and provides both surgical care and routine services including glasses and contact lens prescriptions. She is conversant in Spanish. She is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Travis County Medical Association, the Texas Ophthalmology Association, and the Austin Ophthalmology Association.
