Kyla Aschenbeck, MD
Dr. Kyla Aschenbeck is a Board Certified cataract and refractive surgeon with a focus on optimizing vision and reducing dependence on glasses through LASIK, Advanced Surface Ablation, and the latest intraocular lens technologies. She is also specially trained in diseases of the cornea, ocular surface, and anterior segment — including dry eye syndrome, keratoconus, corneal dystrophies, and ocular surface tumors. Born and raised in Houston, Dr. Aschenbeck completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin and her medical degree at UT Southwestern in Dallas.

Dr. Aschenbeck completed her internship in Internal Medicine at the University of California San Diego, her ophthalmology residency at LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport — where she served as Chief Resident — and a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. During her fellowship, she served as a Clinical Instructor for the Department of Ophthalmology, teaching residents in the classroom, clinic, and on call.
She offers the latest techniques in partial thickness corneal transplantation (DSAEK and DMEK), full thickness corneal transplants, corneal crosslinking, superficial keratectomy, and pterygium surgery, among other procedures. Dr. Aschenbeck is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Cornea Society, and the Texas Medical Association. She returned to Austin after training to be closer to family.
